The Pros of Using Split-Rail Fencing

Residing and working in Jackson, Mississippi, Jon Dan Fasano served with the United States Marines for 10 years before working as a designer and welder for Kalalou. Jon Daniel Fasano designs different products, including pre-Civil War era fencing, most commonly known as split-rail fencing.

Split-rail fences, also referred to as snake or worm fences, are a common choice of decorative borders for cottages, cabins, and country houses. They consist of logs split in half and have the rails zigzagging throughout. This makes the split-rail fence easy to construct, as it can even be done without any nails or other equipment, as the logs hold themselves in place.

Another advantage of split-rail fencing is it is extremely durable when made from the right wood and easy to repair or replace rails. These fences also allow for great visibility so the owner can see their property and surrounding area. Split-rail fencing is most commonly used in agriculture and to mark property borders.
